Join us for an electrifying night of inventive, spontaneous jazz with Lou’s Safari – a rising piano trio from Leeds making waves on the UK jazz scene. Rooted in the freedom of Hyde Park jam sessions and shaped by performances at renowned venues like Matt and Phreds, The Domino, Wakefield Jazz, and Zeffirelli’s, this trio brings a fresh, fearless approach to the tradition of the jazz piano trio.

Featuring Joseph Frost-Tesfaye on piano, Harry Souter on double bass, and Louis Berthoud on drums, Lou’s Safari have been playing together in different line-ups for nearly four years, but have truly found their voice as a trio over the past six months.

Blending the introspective lyricism of Kit Downes and the rhythmic flair of Aaron Goldberg with the timeless genius of John Hicks and Thelonious Monk, the trio breathe new life into classic standards and original compositions alike—arranging everything on the fly in a conversational, open style. The result? An immersive journey of expansive musical dialogue, playful spontaneity, and a flowing, relaxed swing that keeps you leaning in for more.
