On Friday, May 3rd, Lincoln Jazz Cafe invites you to a unique musical gathering that promises to be both heartwarming and inspiring. We’re excited to host Charlie and Sam from Lincoln University, who together form the jazz duo Decaf. Join us to support these young talents as they bravely step into the spotlight for a crucial part of their course grade.
Charlie’s love for jazz and soul runs deep, tracing back to her early childhood when the smooth melodies of jazz icons filled her home. Influenced greatly by the emotional depth and distinctive styles of Amy Winehouse and Nina Simone, she has developed a passion for expressing her own emotions through powerful vocal performances. These influences are evident in her singing, where she aims to connect with the audience on a personal level by channelling the soulfulness and raw energy of her musical heroes.
Charlie and Sam are experimenting with jazz, drawing on their passion and studies to give you a 20-minute glimpse into their journey with music. This is not just about a performance—it’s about growth, learning, and sharing their love for jazz with the community.
We believe jazz isn’t just for the connoisseurs; it’s for everyone. This event is a perfect opportunity to bring together people of all ages to enjoy and foster a love for jazz in Lincoln. It’s a chance to see how the new generation interprets this timeless genre and to show them that their local community backs them.
The set begins sharply at 7 PM, and with only 20 minutes to showcase their work, you’ll want to be seated early! Doors open at 5 PM, so come by, grab a good spot, and perhaps enjoy one of our signature cocktails or select a wine from our curated list. Although the event is FREE, booking a table is highly recommended to ensure you don’t miss out.

Please note, tables are booked for a 2-hour slot and will be held for 15 minutes past your booking time before being released to somebody else. While you may try your luck on the night, booking in advance is advised to avoid disappointment.
The music starts at 7:00 PM to 07:20 PM.
